Handl

For electricians in Ireland

ET101 test results, recorded on the job

Handl started with Irish electrical contractors, so testing isn't bolted on. Record I.S. 10101 test results against each board and circuit, see pass or fail against the limits, and keep the results with the job, the site and the customer.

Write the readings down once

Readings on a paper sheet get copied out again at night, and every copy is another chance for a mistake. In Handl you enter each result once, against the right board and circuit, and it's there for the summary, the certificate and the next time you're back at that property.

Test records

The tests you can record

Results are kept per distribution board and sub-board, with Ze for each board, and grouped into pre-connection, post-connection and periodic testing.

  • ContinuityProtective conductor continuity
  • Ring final circuitsRing final circuit continuity
  • Insulation resistanceInsulation resistance readings
  • PolarityPolarity checks per circuit
  • Earth fault loop impedanceZs shown against the maximum for the circuit
  • Prospective fault currentPFC readings
  • RCDTrip times checked against the limits
  • Phase rotationFor three-phase supplies
  • EV chargerTests for EV charge point circuits
  • PATPortable appliance test records

How it works

From survey to summary

  1. 1

    Set up the site

Create a compliance project for the site and add its distribution boards and sub-boards.

  2. 2

    Survey and inspect

Record the site survey and work through the visual inspection, adding photos where they help.

  3. 3

    Enter the test results

Record each test against its board and circuit. Handl shows pass or fail against the limits as you go.

  4. 4

    Review and issue

Check the test summary, then issue an interim certificate PDF on the Master plan.

A compliance project in Handl

One project per installation

Boards, tests and inspection in one place

Create a compliance project from the job and the client and site come with it. Add the main board and any sub-boards, each with its own test schedule, then record tests and work through the inspection checklist.

  • Main boards and sub-boards, with Ze
  • Test records against each board
  • New install, PIR and EV charger checklists

Built around how Irish electricians work

Visual inspection

Work through the inspection items for the installation and attach photos to them.

Test summary and PDFs

See every result for the job in one summary, and open or share the inspection PDF.

Interim certificates

Issue, reopen and version interim certificate PDFs from Handl on the web. (Master)

QC centre and rule packs

Review work before it goes out with a quality-check queue and versioned rule packs. (Journeyman and Master)

Property history

Each site keeps its installations and an inspection timeline, so the next visit starts with what's already known.

Good to know

  • Handl records your test results and shows pass or fail against the limits. You remain responsible for the testing, the results and any certification; Handl isn't endorsed by Safe Electric or NSAI.
  • Interim certificate PDFs need the Master plan. The QC centre and rule packs need Journeyman or Master. Test records, boards and visual inspections are on every plan.
  • Handl uses Irish standards (ET101 / I.S. 10101). It isn't set up for UK BS 7671 certificates.
  • The upcoming phone apps save test records, boards and visual inspections on the phone when there's no signal and sync them later. In the browser you need a connection.

FAQ

Common questions

Does Handl issue Safe Electric certificates?

No. Handl produces interim certificate PDFs from your recorded results (Master plan). Your official certification still goes through the usual Safe Electric process.

Which tests can I record?

Continuity, ring final circuits, insulation resistance, polarity, earth fault loop impedance, prospective fault current, RCD, phase rotation, EV charger and PAT, organised by distribution board and sub-board.

Does it check results against the limits?

Handl shows pass or fail as you enter results, for example Zs against the maximum for the circuit. Always apply your own judgement as the tester.

Is testing included in every plan?

Test records, boards, visual inspections and test summaries are on every plan. Interim certificates are on Master, and the QC centre on Journeyman and Master.
